The economy, the press and the paradox

The following blog post comes from my favorite marketer, Seth Godin. His books are gold and his insight is very much like ours at WMI - contradictory and a very "common sense" approach.

Enjoy:

Wealth is not created by financial manipulation, the trading of equities or the financing of banks. They just enable it.

Wealth is created by productivity. Productive communities generate more of value.

Productivity comes from innovation.

Innovation comes from investment and change.

The media lemmings, the same ones that encouraged you to get a second mortgage, buy a McMansion and spend, spend, spend are now falling all over themselves to out-mourn the others. They are telling everyone to batten down, to cut back, to freeze and panic. They're looking for stories about this, advice about this, hooks about this.

And of course, the paradox. If, in the middle of some sensible budgeting and waste trimming, we stop investing in the future, stop innovating, stop finding the breakthrough that leads to the next round of productivity gain, then in fact they're right, it does last forever.

I believe that we're on the verge of some exponential increases in productivity. Productivity in marketing as the waste of reaching the masses goes away. Productivity in energy as we figure out how to make a renewable process that gives us incremental units of power for free (think about the impact of that for a moment) and productivity in group work and management as we allow the network to do more than let us watch stupid YouTube videos at work. The three biggest expenses of most endeavors (the energy to make it, the people who create it and the marketing that spreads the idea) are about to be overhauled.

What a tragedy it will be if we let defensive thinking hold us back.

The double edged sword of entrepreneurship

It's easy to be lazy as an entrepreneur - no one makes you take action, and ultimately you're only accountable to yourself... It's great because now you're FREE right? It can be; however, the average person that joins our amazing industry of direct sales/network marketing is coming from a completely different background, generally the kind of background that supports accountability to a supervisor of sorts and completely relies on being continually told what to do next.

That's great Mike, but what's your point?

Two points:

  1. Knowing this gives you a HUGE advantage in understanding the mindset of those being exposed to your marketing. Ask yourself this question: If my average prospect is bringing this mentality to the table, how can I benefit from it?
  2. Do I operate like this? - If so what steps can I take today to become more "proactive" in my business? Additionally, is this the profile of my current team? If so, can I assist them by creating specific action steps that they can use as a tool to maintain accountability with me? (Leverage their need for "being told what to do next" by giving them direction to create results.)

Entrepreneurship can definitely be a double edged sword at times, but the real leaders learn to wield it masterfully.

Nothing like us.

I’m currently in Las Vegas attending a Network Marketing “company” event that features many professional services and vendors that tailor their goods to our industry… I’m actually one of the few attendee’s that isn’t the CEO of his/her respective company and I can tell you this: Connecting with all of these bright, ambitious, and powerful individuals about the vision of their company’s and what/how they market confirms what we’ve already been saying…

We are absolutely in the right place at the right time.

The solution for every challenge facing our economy can be solved by the combination of both our products and our unmatched income opportunity. I have yet to see a company better positioned to take advantage of this economic roller coaster more so than Wealth Masters International lead by Kip Herriage and Karl Bessey.

We are currently facing UNMATCHED opportunity to create more wealth than ever before and you can either decide right here and right now that you’re going to be a part of it, or it can pass you by.

I predict in the next three years you will say one of two things to yourself:

Wish I had…

or

Glad I did.

Which will you say?

They definitely don’t teach this in school…

We're approaching our next m2 Wealth Conference in Marco Island, FL and I just watched an amazing video featuring Ron Paul being interviewed by Michael Maloney (yeah... the same Michael Maloney speaking at this November's conference!).

I just gave you permission...

I just gave you permission...

Yes you! This is free enterprise, and if you're anything like me you're excited about the possibilities of creating a bright future for yourself, your family, and your loved ones. The only thing is...

Most people aren't going to give you permission to succeed. The good news is... you don't need it! If I waited for permission from my family/friends and people I respected to be creative and "risk it all" I never would have the amazing opportunities that I have today... Besides the real permission you should be seeking is from yourself.

Permission to be creative.
Permission to be ok with being yourself.
Permission to be a successful business owner.
Permission to give yourself time to learn the skills need to create massive results.

I have this quote I stare at every day and it always inspires me:
"Only put off tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone" - Pablo Picasso

Allow yourself to run your business with that kind of permission and there's no telling what you can achieve.
